Spring Essentials 2018

January 18, 2018

I’m so excited to already start talking about spring fashion. It takes my mind off the fact that we’re still stuck with this winter weather for another two months or so. I can tell a lot of you are feeling the same way as this post was highly requested! So here it is, my spring essentials.Spring Essentials 2018

FLORAL – We all know floral for spring isn’t groundbreaking, but that doesn’t mean it’s not essential for the season. Who doesn’t love a good floral print? It’s timeless and I think will always have a place during this time of year. When styling, don’t be afraid to mix floral with different color and prints – just make sure there’s balance to  the look. Floral adds a very pretty, feminine touch to your outfit without being excessive.

Winter Boots

January 7, 2018

If you live in the north, you know winters can be harsh. Because of this, it’s best to invest in quality winter gear that won’t fail you in the brutal weather. Winter boots are no exception. Investing in quality winter boots will be a major lifesaver.

The North Face has awesome outside gear, including their winter boots. Specifically, I love these North Face Bridgeton boots because they’re waterproof and insulated. These features are essential to ensure your feet stay warm and dry while trucking through the snow. These are great for anywhere you need to go and you won’t feel the need to change shoes.

Another great option is the Ugg Hannen TL Leather boots. They’re a sharp looking boot that don’t actually look like clunky winter boots. True to Ugg’s products, these are wool lined with a waterproof leather to ensure your feet stay completely shielded. At the same time, they’re very lightweight and sleek – not giving you that bulky look that other boots do.

Winter Boots to Invest In

Winter Boots to Invest In

Unfortunately we still have a few months of winter, but at least you can survive the rest of the season by investing in good winter boots. Nothing’s worse than braving the outside with gear that won’t shield you from the harsh weather. Like any other investment, winter boots can be pretty pricey depending on which ones you get. But if you live anywhere where there’s the possibility of a brutal winter, the investment is worth it.

I bought these waterproof Sorel boots last year and have been obsessed with them ever since. They’re durable and keep my feet completely warm and dry. They’re less bulky compared to other styles which is a huge plus for me. When I look for winter boots, I look for ones that are stylish and fashion-forward but will still be foolproof. When I was in college, I used to have to walk in two feet of snow and these saved my feet. My feet used to get so cold to the point of being numb, but these have taken care of that. I always wear these wherever I go and just pack my real shoes along. These boots are a complete lifesaver.

How to Beat the Winter Rut

How to Beat the Winter Rut

It’s safe to say most of us are sick of this constant -5 degree weather and are wishing for summer to be back again; even though it won’t be for another four months at least. If you’re from the Midwest, or really anywhere it snows, you know it’s a lot easier to be happy in the summer *for some reason*. Seasonal depression is a real thing and there are many factors that play into this. In the summer, it’s easier to be more active, get more exposure to the sun, eat healthier (no thanks to the warm, comfort food), and feel overall better. Even though it feels like a long time until then, you don’t have to let the winter drag you down. Here are a few tips on how to beat the winter rut:

1. Drink lots of water – This is a given and you’ve heard it countless times, but it’s true. The golden amount is 2 liters of water per day. It sounds like a lot but if you get into the habit, you’ll feel a world of a difference. Drinking water will help hydrate your entire body and will therefore:

  • Boost your immune system and help your body fight off infections
  • Increase energy levels
  • Boost and maintain a regular digestive tract
  • Make you feel less hungry (most of the time when you feel hungry, you’re actually thirsty)
  • Clear up blemishes and acne
  • Hydrate your skin
