Hello friends! Let’s talk about COLOR. You may or may not like to wear a lot of color in your #00td, cue all black outfit all day EVERDAY (how can you go wrong?!). Well, Pantone has named the Color of the Year 2018 lavender…and I’m thrilled. To be honest, I don’t normally go out of my way to make sure I’m wearing an “in” color or trend but this might as well be the exception. I mean, hello, look at this color!
I’m completely on board. It’s gorgeous(!) and isn’t seen nearly as much – which is exactly why I love it. It’s surprising, unexpected and bright and therefore is extremely eye-catching. Lavender is one of those colors that’s universally flattering on anyone and could/will definitely turn some heads. A dress or blouse in this color would be so beautiful…or even in a wool coat…ugh, I’m already obsessed just thinking about it.
If you couldn’t tell from above, this situation above is putting me in such a good mood! Will you be trying lavender in your outfits this year? Let me know!
The menswear-inspired look couldn’t be more of-the-moment. I’m referring to the oversize, relaxed fit of trousers, pants, long coats, blazers, and even blazer dresses…sounds amazing right? If you’re worried about the silhouette, don’t. The unstructured style gives your usual day-to-day outfit an updated, cool look that is equally sophisticated, serious and effortless. Definitely suitable for 2018…complete pun intended. Strut into your workplace like a boss with this fresh workwear. Not only is the look ideal for the office, but you can easily dress it for your night out or weekend plans.
Our political climate and responsibility for activism are playing a notable influence on the runway now more than ever. Progressing their powerful voice on the significance of the feminist movement, diversity and inclusion, relevant movements such as #MeToo and #TimesUp are too fueling designers. This was one of the prevailing inspirations for many collections for NYFW Fall 2018. It was evident designers took their views of the current political climate and translated it into a multitude of ways. Some collections were inspired by the empowerment and strength of women, some were focused on diversity and the celebration of variety, some were designed for positivity and hope for a better future, others shifted their aesthetic to a subdued tone to project the serious, hard-working, and “unbridled” energy women have in our society today. Let’s be honest here. Some people love Valentine’s Day, some people hate it. Even though it’s a holiday centered around love, this doesn’t mean you have to have a significant other to enjoy it! As marked by Leslie Knope, February 13 is Galentine’s Day – the day of “ladies celebrating ladies”. No matter if you’re spending your V-Day plans with your SO, best girlfriends, or by yourself (hello me time), it’s fun to have the excuse to go out and do something fun! Have dinner at that restaurant you’ve been waiting to try, make a romantic dinner at home, go see the Fifty Shades premiere(!), have a boozy brunch with bottomless mimosas, or take a much needed bubble bath with your favorite bath products.
If you’re spending Valentine’s Day with your SO, I have some awesome gift ideas for him and for her that I know they’ll love. These are great gifts to treat your gf or bf to make them feel that much more special.
