Whether you’re on Day 9 or Day 14, remaining healthy and sane is top priority during this time of social distancing. If you’re feeling isolated, going stir crazy with your now WFH life, and draining your extroverted personality with the thought of not being able to go out and indulge in your favorite pasta, I’m right there with you.
I encourage you to stay positive and fuel that energy to focus on you. Keep yourself grounded by doing proactive activities that make you still feel like you, and better — with a little KUWTK on the side, of course. Make the most of your staycation with these five pass-times.
HOW TO STAY SANE DURING SOCIAL DISTANCING
If you think back to the last time you played a board game, chances are it’s been awhile. Although most of us are accustomed to playing board games exclusively on holidays and during other family get-togethers, now’s the time to bring them out. My favorites at the moment have been Chess, Monopoly, and Scattergories, but puzzles are another fun way to give your mind a little mental workout.
MAKE HOMEMADE GF BAKED GOODS
Let’s be real: with the ability to binge watch episodes (while working) from the convenience of your couch, you’ve found yourself getting inspired by The Great British Baking Show once or twice so far during this quarantine. Give your sweet tooth a satisfying bite with these two recipes I highly recommend you try: yummy GF banana bread and these amazing vegan chocolate chip cookies.
FUEL YOUR CREATIVITY
Your love for painting or drawing may have seemed like a time-consuming “task” constantly put on the back burner in the past, but the time is here. If you have any kind of artistic itch, get your hands dirty and let your creativity flow. I’ve finally started painting again and it feels so good.
PICK UP THAT COFFEE TABLE BOOK
Read and research subjects you’re passionate about, in-depth. Whether it’s reading material of a physical book, digital magazine, or other content site, stay in touch with interests that matter most to you, and plus, learn something new. I’ve been reading my dose of BoF, lusting over articles on AD, and finally picking up my fashion books that have only been sitting pretty on the coffee table for the last three years.
WORK(OUT) FROM HOME
Another day, another workout at home. Like you, I’m really missing the gym and my classes. Thankfully, we’ve been blessed with endless workout videos on YouTube. Find any workout you need from yoga and Pilates, to your favorite HIIT routines – and even ones specifically using no equipment. Grab your yoga mat and get to work. My top videos: Body Pump, yoga with Adrienne, and this Pilates butt exercise.
