Weekends are all for having a not-so-structured routine and that’s what makes them so exciting to look forward to. They’re dedicated for relaxing, sleeping in, taking a stroll, brunching, watching more Netflix, and everything else your heart desires. I mean this is when I can finally enjoy my french press coffee after a week of tolerating the bland coffee at work(!). Exciting, I know…it’s the little things!
Whether you’re having a weekend full of me-time or spending it with friends, you want to keep it casual. Although, this doesn’t mean style has to be sacrificed for comfort. I’m not going to lie, I’m all about the cute and casual look – it’s the perfect outfit blend. Thankfully, mastering the casual chic look isn’t complicated. It only takes a few key points to effortlessly elevate your outfit.
For me, it starts with good denim. This past weekend, my outfit of choice consisted of my favorite Levi high-rise jeans and denim jacket. Denim on denim is a great go-to to lay the groundwork for any casual weekend look. It’s laid-back but still gives cool monochromatic interest to the outfit. A fresh way to wear the classic Canadian tuxedo is to mix shades like I did here. Even the slightest contrast can make a difference. To break up the denim, I styled a floral blouse underneath because (1.) it looks cute and feminine and (2.) I couldn’t resist because hello, spring. I completed the look with my favorite Dr. Martens.
Denim on denim is one of many ensembles that are perfect for the weekend and nonetheless perfect to incorporate into your spring wardrobe. Check back to see what other weekends looks I’ll be rocking this season!
