Chocolate and Almond Butter Protein Oatmeal

This is how I used to make my oatmeal: I’d take an oatmeal packet with some water, heat it up and then begin to spoon tablespoons of brown sugar into it. Simple right? Although little did I know I was doing it all wrong. I used to think that my oatmeal needed a ton of sugar to actually taste good. I’ve come a long way since then. Now, I make this amazing and simple recipe and actually feel satisfied without having consumed tablespoons of refined sugar. This oatmeal recipe is sweet but has absolutely no refined sugar in it – it’s all natural sweetness.

The flavor? Almond butter chocolate protein oatmeal. Not only does this oatmeal taste delicious, but it’s hearty and packed with protein and fiber. It’s honestly the best breakfast and is perfect in the summer and winter. The protein and fiber will give you lots of energy to take on the day and keep you feeling full. Switch up your breakfast with this almond butter chocolate protein oatmeal and I promise you you’ll be so happy you did.

1/2 cup steel-cut oats
1 cup water
1 scoop plant-based chocolate protein powder (I use Vega protein powder)
1 tbsp. almond butter
1 tsp. cacao nibs
Raw coconut flakes

1. In a small bowl, mix together the steel-cut oats and water.
2. Heat the mixture in the microwave for one minute.
3. After, mix in the chocolate protein powder.
4. Finally, top it all off with the almond butter, sliced banana, cacao nibs, coconut flakes, and cinnamon.
5. Enjoy!
